If you live in Ontario you know winter can be pretty brutal on our vehicles. Snow, ice, road salt and plummeting temperatures can have us on edge about whether or not our vehicles will withstand our Canadian winters. That’s why I’ve put together three tips to make the winter months a little bit easier on you and your vehicle.

Fill’er Up
In the winter months, especially with frigid temperatures, always try to keep your tank full or close to full. An empty tank will start to develop water droplets which creates moisture. That moisture gets into your fuel system and can cause your vehicle to stumble or not start at all. Since winter tires can decrease your mileage tuck a few extra dollars each week up until winter so your tank can be full all season long.

30 Second Warm Up
How many of you remember your dad warming up the car five or ten minutes before he had to leave for work, only to find out the car was still cold. Along the way, we came to believe idling the engine would warm up the car. It is suggested that you warm your car up for no more than 30 seconds before you take off, when the engine is engaged it warms up faster. The extra bonus, your engine doesn’t have to work as hard.

Winter Wiper Blades
The first time I told my wife about winter wiper blades she looked at me kind of funny. When I finally installed them on her car she agreed they made a huge difference. All season wiper blades are good for rain but a winter wiper blade is bigger and sturdier so they can withstand inclement weather.
So there are my three tips to get your vehicle through the winter weather. I hope you found this helpful, if you haven’t visited us on our Facebook page find us here

Jeff was awesome. I love that he came right to my home, showed up on time and really knew what he was talking about. Also gave me some very good advice about preventative maintenance and keeping my vehicle in top shape. I really appreciated that he explained what he was doing and why. He definitely has a new recurring client.
